Link files in Navisworks Manage and see them in Navisworks Freedom

Link Documents in Navisworks Manage and look the same in Navisworks Freedom for Facility Management.

Keep the files together in one folder, as shown,





Open nwc file, select the object, right click in the properties tab, as shown below, select Edit Links….










This will open Edit Links window, in this hit Add tab,











This will open Add Link window, under this give name and hit browse tab to link file,













In window Choose Link select All for Files of type, this will make you see the required file,














Select the file, hit open; hit Ok of for Add Link and Edit Links windows

Save the file in nwd format so that you can open this in Freedom viewer,
Open the file in Freedom viewer,
Select Link tab, in Home tab








This will show you below link in model, by clicking on this the document will open.

  1. Regarding this topic, how do you hand over these nwd files with the links to the building maintenance personel? I've tried putting all the linked files and nwd files on a usb stick, but if their computer reads a different drive, it doesn't automatically update. I guess what I'm asking is there a way to embed the links in the nwd or nwf when handing a file over to a building owner?

  2. Keep all files nwd and linked files togatehr in same folder, this way you can see the linked files.
